ANIMALS IN CAGES ARE DANGEROUS: Recently an attack by a caged lion killed a woman: Family: Woman killed by lion was a tragic accident,http://www.seattlepi.com/news/us/arti… Several years ago an attack by a chimpanzee also made the news.
This video shows similar attacks by wild animals in cages. It shows that even though they are caged, they can still be dangerous.
Several of these animals are unique because they are some of the only known animals with the characteristics. This includes Fluffy the snake (now deceased). The 2011 Guinness World Records book shows Fluffy the reticulated python from Columbus Zoo, Ohio, as the longest snake in custody, at 24ft (7.3m). Unfortunately, she died. It also shows the world’s largest Chimpanzee, Kermit, who is also now deceased. Kermit may belong to a newly discovered species of human-sized chimpanzees, sometimes called Bili chimpanzees
It shows the largest and tallest elephants in North America and also shows the largest indoor elephant enclosure. It shows both elephants and world’s longest snake, Fluffy, in this elephant enclosure. It shows a bull elephant in musth.
It also shows very rare animals:
**** White Lion The total number of white lions is unknown but the most recent count, in 2004, showed that only 30 were alive. White lions are Endangered. The one shown is one of Siegfried and Roys White Lions of Timbavati. Of only 30 white lions in the world, around seven are found in Ohio and this one is at the Cincinnati Zoo.
****A tiglon or tigon is a hybrid cross between a male tiger (Panthera tigris) and a lioness (Panthera leo), thus it has parents within the same genus but of different species.
Tigons are very rare. Ligers and tiglons can mate. Male tigons are sterils while females are usually fertile. Because only female tigons are fertile tiglons can’t reproduce with each other. A female tigon was mated to a lion. Titigons result from a cross between a female tiglon and a male tiger. Such matings are possible in the wild because lions and tigers live in Asia.
It shows rescued animals. The Exotic Feline Rescue Center (EFRC) in western Indiana rescues big cats and gives them a home for life.
