How to Survive a Shark Attack
http://goo.gl/YsgbCW
Today’s list is brought to you by They Will Kill You. More on that later.
5. Rodney Fox
In 1963, miracle survivor Rodney Fox suffered a punctured diaphragm, pierced scapula, and ripped lung from a great white shark attack in Australia, leaving his ribcage and upper stomach exposed. When rescuers were pulling him from the water, they had to keep his wetsuit on to prevent his organs from spilling out. [6]Four hours and 450 stitches later, Rodney lived to tell the tale of the attack.
4. Omar Conger
In 1984, Omar Conger and companion Chris Rehm were diving near Santa Cruz, California when a 16-foot great white grabbed Conger from behind and pulled him underwater while shaking his body violently. The shark then surfaced, released Conger, and proceeded to charge at Rehm. Rehm was able to pull Conger to shore on a flotation dive mat, but Conger died from massive blood loss.

3. Ian Redmond
]In 2011, Ian Redmond was on his honeymoon with wife Gemma Houghton in the Seychelles when Redmond had an arm and leg ripped off by a six-foot long bull shark while snorkeling just 20 yards from the shore where his wife was sunbathing. Although Redmond was pulled ashore to safety, he bled to death on the beach. The couple had been married for only ten days when this incident occurred.
2. Shirley Ann Durdin
In 1985, 33-year old Shirley Ann Durdin was snorkeling for scallops in Peake Bay, Australia when she was all of a sudden attacked by a great white shark in seven-foot deep water. Her family watched from shore 150 yards away as she was brutally torn in two. When rescuers arrived, all that remained was Shirley’s headless torso. She left behind a husband and four children.
1. USS Indianapolis
On July 30th, 1945 the USS Indianapolis was struck by two torpedoes from a Japanese submarine while en route to the Philippines. The damage sent the 1,200-man crew into the sea, 300 of which went down with the ship while the remaining 900 were left afloat in the shark-infested waters. When rescuers arrived five days later, nearly 600 of these floating sailors were dead as the sharks chewed up most of the crew to pieces. Only 317 people survived, one of which was Woody James who later said, “The sharks were around, hundreds of them… Everything would be quiet and then you’d hear somebody scream and you knew a shark had got him.”
