Incredible Fish footage Thursday: this time we’ve got some spectacular Thresher Shark Footage, shot in the Philippines.

ABOUT THRESHER SHARKS:
– Thresher Shark: also known as “Fox Shark”, Alopias Vulpinus
– 3 known living species: Pelagic Thresher, Bigeye Thresher & Common Thresher
– Largest recorded: 6 metres, weighing 600 kg (216 pounds)
– Life expectancy: 22 years
– Habitat: Pacific & Indian Ocean, edge of continental shelves, deepest depth of 500 metres
– Social life: Rogue mavericks, remain largely independent.
– Hunting behaviour: Known for using their long tails as whips to knock out fish and also marine birds + one of few shark species which have been recorded leaping a few feet out the water (“breaching”)
– Dangerous?: Pose very little threat to humans. Exercise caution when approaching them at sunrise during cleaning period as they can be overly excited.
